Today Sullivan and I had the beautiful company of Dad’s 3 Irish Setters. As Dad headed out for the day, I’m sure he was thinking I wasn’t brave or mad enough to try walk them all solo. But he clearly doesn’t appreciate the fabulous functionality and freedom of the hands-free lead - the holy grail of practical but stylish pet parenting.
So, after lunch we got our walking boots on and the 5 of us headed out, and, to Dad’s amazement, all returned calm and stress free. Little does he know he owns 3 hands-free leads 😃
Why I’m a huge fan:
1. Multitasking Like a Boss
Whether I’m sipping a latte, texting my dog walker, or enjoying a podcast, having both hands-free makes dog walking a breeze. I’m not saying it allows us to not focus on our dogs but it does allow us to walk with comfort and multi-tasking if we need.
2. Freedom of Movement = Better Walks
With hands free everything is smoother and easier, including my posture and gait. It helped us with our loose lead walking and training all together. Sully definitely knew how free my hands were to grab those treats!
3. Game Changer for Joggers and Stroller Parents
To my fellow joggers, power-walkers, and parents pushing strollers: this is the lead you’ve been dreaming of. Running with a leash in one hand? Messy. Annoying. Running hands-free? Smooth, powerful and maybe slightly smug. Whether it’s the sling across the body or the waist belt (personal favourite) both will transform your runs with the best running companion!
4. It Just Feels… Empowering
Hands free, hands down makes you feel more capable. I can carry shopping, snap pics of my dog being adorable, or wave at fellow dog people with ease. I’m now convinced cross-body leads or bags are super stylish and rock them even to the pub!
